When one reads blogs in which there is a healthy percentage of non -transgendered commenters, one of the words that will jump out at you is the use of the word “confused”, as in “…those confused  individuals”.  The transgender see this as a slam.

There has been much written about how the transgender talk only to themselves.  Of course, this is true.  As most don’t have much interaction with anyone outside of their club, they have come to 1) support issues that pretty much no one outside of their group, including some of the GLBs, would agree with, and 2) not have the ability to understand why and how those outside the transgender realm feel the way they do.  Both of these items are a function of societal concepts that the transgender choose to define in their own unique vernacular.

Consider the issue of Thomas Beatty, the pregnant man.

Thomas Beatty was a woman who had a mastectomy, took testosterone, chose not to have a hysterectomy, and then later decided to go off of hormones, and become a mother.  He refers to himself and identifies as a man and, evidently, succeeded in legally marrying a natal female.  When all this brouhaha came to pass, I dare say there were very few in the transgender community who did not defend Thomas Beatty’s claim to be a male…and  to be a mother.

For the sake of discussion, let’s assume that a woman can indeed become a man just by having a mastectomy while leaving their entire reproductive system intact.  Taking hormones would not be a requirement unless the person wanted secondary sex characteristics, or for a female transsexual, an enlarged clitoris (certainly not a anatomically correct and functional penis).  Having read and commented on Oprah’s blog when Thomas Beatty made his appearance there, I can tell you that not a lot, but some  of those who commented said they could understand that IF  that was all there was to it, i.e., having a mastectomy and taking hormones was all that it took to be identified as a male…then fine, he was a guy.  But that was not  all there was to it.  Beatty went on to become pregnant.  And when that fact was thrown into the mix the remarks were almost unanimous and broke down into three general categories:  1) Beatty and his wife were wished well and whatever he chose to do was fine with them were the remarks of a many, 2) though a huge number of those who commented could understand gender reassignment surgery and the transition process, their sentiment was that men do not  have vaginas nor do they desire to bear children, and if Beatty changed his sex but still kept his reproductive system and desired to have children he was not a male, but female, and did not have gender reassignment surgery, and 3) Thomas Beatty was confused  and really didn’t know what he was.

Those obvious transgendered who commented (surprisingly with the exception of a few trans men commenters who agreed with item #2 above) held the position that anyone who had the opinion that Thomas Beatty was anything but a man and was not completely accepted as a man by them were homophobic, transphobic, self-loathing, bigots, etc.  There was no compromise on the part of the defenders of Thomas Beatty toward those who held an opinion following items #2 and #3 above.

Now, if one would ask a third grader if men could have babies, what do you think the little kid would say?  If one were to ask a medical doctor if men could become pregnant, what do you think his answer would be?  If one went on the Internet and researched homo sapiens pregnancy  do you think it would say females get pregnant and bear young, or males?  If one stopped anybody on the street over the age of six or eight and asked them who have babies, men or women, what do you think the answer would be?   Yet, almost all of the transgendered will tell you Thomas Beatty is a man…as well as a sizable portion of the more cuddly GLBs.  They can’t understand why others don’t recognize their concept of male and female, men and women.

And, the transgender wonder why they are often referred to as confused

The fact that society doesn’t go along with a transgender concept that flies in the face of the entire history of mankind is exacerbated by some of their more basic definitions.

The transgender don’t do well with labels…it’s not  in their interest.  Unfortunately for them, on many different levels, defining things is necessary.  We don’t label a murderer…a philanthropist.  We don’t call a pedophile…a drunk.  And when we open a can of pitted olives, we don’t want to find asparagus.  Labels are a fact of life.  The transgender are all for labeling themselves boy or girl…but that’s evidently different.  Go to a blog or chat room and bring on the label issue and all hell will break loose.  Again, for the sake of discussion, let’s not  label any group in particular, but talk about characteristics.

A crossdresser  in its simplest definition is someone who dresses in clothing typically worn by the opposite sex and/or someone who adopts the manner or sexual role of the opposite sex.  In short, it’s men who dress up like women.  Depending on where you get the definition, these people derive sexual pleasure from appearing this way.  They seldom identify as female (except when dressed), but as male.  They have no desire for gender reassignment surgery, if they did, they would be transsexual.  They dress as females for whatever reason, and then take off their clothes and go back to being men…it’s strictly a part-time thing for them.

A transvestite  is essentially the same thing as a crossdresser, someone who dresses in the clothes typically worn by the opposite sex.  Webster’s says they adopt this female behavior and appearance “especially for the purposes of emotional or sexual gratification.”   A transvestite also dresses for the occasion but lives as a male…again, a part time thing.

A drag queen  is a man, especially a performer or female impersonator, often homosexual…most often dressed flamboyantly…the internet says it is sometimes used as a term of contempt and derision.  DQs for the most part are also part-timers who identify as men and dress only for whatever motivations drive them for the moment.

A shemale  is a man who feminizes themselves in every way possible through surgery and hormones…often associated with sex workers and prostitutes…they have no desire for gender reassignment surgery.  Shemales are full time, but identify as men.

Gender queer…I have to admit, I don’t have a clue what this means.

Androgynous is presenting in a way that could be taken as either typical male or female or somewhere in between.

Gender variant  is anyone who doesn’t present in a typical male or female role of their natal sex; some have suggested this term be substituted for transgender (see below).

Male-to-female non-operative transsexual  is a male, who claims they are female but has no desire to undergo gender reassignment surgery.

Classic male-to-female pre-operative transsexual  is a natal male who innately knows they were born in the wrong body and whose life path is driven toward gender reassignment surgery…in the mind of a classic male-to-female transsexual they are female.  They want in everyway to do whatever is necessary to integrate into society as a female.  The chief differentiating trait between other gender variant and classic transsexuals, according to Dr. Harry Benjamin, is the need to bring their mind and body into congruence through gender reassignment surgery.

Classic male-to-female post-operative transsexual is a natal male who innately knew they were born with a body that didn’t match their mental psyche and of whom has undergone gender reassignment surgery…in the mind of a classic male-to-female transsexual they are female.  The chief differentiating trait between other gender variant and classic transsexuals, according to Dr. Harry Benjamin, is the need to bring their mind and body into congruence through gender reassignment surgery.

A transgender  is anyone who exhibits some form of gender variance.

Transgender is an umbrella term that captures all forms of gender variance under the same banner.  Someone who is transgender believes that all  of the above different characteristics are all  related.  The transgender believe that the characteristics that drive a part-time crossdresser are exactly the same as those that drive a male-to-female classic transsexual who has innately known they were female since their earliest cognizant memory.

The transgender believe that if a transvestite says  he is a woman, then he is  a woman, for no other reason than he said it and should be afforded every  convenience that any other female is offered including going to the women’s restroom, going to women only events, birth certificate change, etc.

The transgender females believe they should have the right present themselves to straight men as whole and complete females  and should the straight men find out that they indeed have a penis, expect the man should just calmly say “no thanks” and walk away from this grand act of deception.

A crossdresser would in all probability be thrilled should anyone refer to them as transsexuals.  On the other hand, a non-operative transsexual would most likely be insulted if they were called a crossdresser, transvestite, drag queen or shemale.

The transgender see the entire group as being on a spectrum located between absolute man and absolute woman, unable to differentiate between the fluctuating degrees of masculinity/femininity and the finite foundations of the gender binary…male or female.  The transgender are doing their dead level best to destroy the gender binary…and failing miserably.

A non-operative transsexual with no intention of ever having gender reassignment surgery would argue to the cows come home that they are just as female as a classic male-to-female post operative female…yet would deny  that a homosexual drag queen who performs on Saturday night and then rushes home to be with his boyfriend in male mode is as female as they are…unless he is in drag…yet these same people advocate for the same female rights and privileges for everyone under the transgender umbrella in which they both belong…belong by choice.

We could go on and on with these absurdities…and they are truely absurd.  The incredible thing is that these are just the inconsistencies within the transgender community itself and in no way takes into consideration how society as a whole views the world…and them.  Which leads us back to the original premise and how we started: the transgendered can only survive by redefining societal concepts that have been ingrained in human nature since the dawn of prehistory.

It is no wonder that society, even polite society, sees the transgender as confused.  Frankly, they are confused.  Everyone knows it but them.

The transgender argue on their  blogs with what one signer of THE PETITION called a “gang mentality.”  They debate the same issues between themselves and the finer points of the mundane over and over until they wear themselves out.  But there is only one drawback to all of their philosophizing: society and twenty first century culture hasn’t bought it…isn’t buying it…and will never buy it.  The transgender see every little bit of tolerance  as acceptance  failing to recognize the difference.  As soon as they try to defend their positions on anything approaching a mainstream blog, their arguments are reduced to ashes.

And, they have another issue that won’t go away…and that is the classic post operative transsexuals who don’t buy it either.  Post op transsexuals are not transgender…we are just female (or male)…always have been…always will be…no complicated definitions or caveats…just female (or male)  Comparing a part-time crossdresser, or any of the other divisions of transgender, to a classic pre or post operative transsexual is like comparing an amoeba to enriched uranium.  But they continue trying…and continue failing.

Society and modern culture has no difficulty wrapping their arms around the idea of transsexualism…and have.  All but four states recognize post op transsexuals as legally members of their target gender…and have for the past 45 years or so.  But our culture and society will not accept the transgender’s gender variations…they may tolerate it, in the interest of civil rights, but they will never accept it.  To society, they are not now nor will they ever be anything but “men in dresses” playing at being something they are not now and will never be.

The transgendered will forever be labeled…confused.

Transsexuals are not transgender.  We are not confused, but our identity has been hijacked by the trangender and their activist.

  1. Just as a note:

GenderQueer (and genderfuck, and bigendered) is a term for those who are *in between* the extremes of male and female, man and woman.

That is, they are the embodiment of that very flexibility and variable point status that is the *only* binding aspect of the term transgender.

    (IE, they destroy your argument).

  2. Explain to me how words invented and made up by the antagonist can destroy any argument? If that were a valid premise, i.e., inventing terminology (like the words you use that are only understood by the GLBT) to refute, then what would be the point of any debate on any subject?

    You seem confused.

  3. Dyssonance……your crowd specializes in changing the recognized meanings of medical terminology to then justify changing and maintaining the right to define others.

What none of you ever seem capable of understanding is that your right of self definition ends at your own nose and does not extend to beyond that to others. That self definition is limited to accurate use of terminology. Ok, you successfully colonized transsexual and rendered the term meaningless to the general public, why then the need to fight to the death the rights of others to redefine themselves? All this does is prove our point, that your side is gynophobic and misgynostic when it comes to the subset of women who have a transsexual history and that you maintain these positions for the sole purpose of undermining our womanhood and to lay claim to a legitimate and medically recognized condition for personal self validation when you clearly do not have that medical condition.

  4. Nick…you have noticed that twice today I have deleted your comments…and will continue to do so. Your tactics and methods to human being is unacceptable.

    Go away.
